Filters and Lights

Bevy of Bird Homes places aviaries in facilities, which include a bar light and often a filter, set into the back portion of the aviary’s roof. The function of the light is fairly straightforward, it brightens the interior, making the birds more visible to residents and guests while creating a warm welcoming sense about the aviary and the surrounding environment. When set against a wall, in the center of a room, or in a corner, the overall effect is that of a peaceful and happy ecosystem, where the sun is always shinning. The filter, on the other hand, helps to collect dust the birds might create with their feathers, and the building of their nests.

Eggcrate

Some residents get concerned during power outages that if the filter stops, the birds cannot breathe. This is nothing to worry about, however, as a top section of the aviary is made of eggcrate, a long plastic strip with evenly spaced square holes throughout. The holes are the true way air moves into and out of the aviary. The birds are perfectly fine, even if the filter is not on. Some of our aviaries do not even include this device, but the birds get along just as well and as happily, unaware that it even exists!

The light installed on the top of the aviary is, as mentioned before, to brighten the interior, making visibility better for the resident birdwatchers. The light is not a replacement for the sun. However, if the automatic timer fails to turn the light on or should the power go out, the birds aren’t being deprived of any vitamin D. They will be just fine until it is fixed, or the outage ends. The birds receive vitamin D through a supplement sprinkled on their fresh eggs and veggies or egg food!

Our endeavor is to meet the needs of the birds through the strategic designs of our aviaries; creating a peace that residents and guest can enjoy without worry of threat to the birds’ health.  Once all fears are alleviated, enthused bird watchers visibly delight in the aviaries that much more, knowing that their feathered friends are treated well and taken care of with the same enthusiasm.
