Peter Brash, National Trust ecologist, said: “As a lifelong birder I’ve always had birdsong as a natural soundtrack to my life and believe it’s good for the mind and soul. Birdsong gets us closer to nature and links people to places and memories in a way that few other sounds can.”

Music has always had a profound effect on my disposition. Nothing can snap me out of a bad mood faster than listening to a favorite song. When I’m anxious, music helps to soothe, and when I want to get revved up for some exercise, I simply turn up a jamming song!

I would not consider myself a morning person. It often takes me a few hours after the annoying blare of the alarm clock has gone off and I have stumbled out of bed, before my excitement for the upcoming day can kick in; however, when I hear the song of a bird outside my window, accompanied by the sun streaming in, it is amazing how quickly I feel alive and ready to begin the day.

I am not alone in my love of bird song. My grandma will rock back and forth on the porch swing for hours enjoying the distinct song “her” bird sings daily. There is a connection between her and that bird which appears to perch atop grandma’s rooftop just to put on a concert for grandma’s seasoned ears.

The only trouble is–the unpredictable weather!  My grandma is getting along in years, her eyesight is poor, and she is not as agile as she once was.  Consequently, if it is windy, or rainy, or blisteringly hot outside, she prefers to be indoors–go figure!  So, instead of enjoying the lovely sounds of nature, she turns on the television and endures endless advertisements throughout the course of her shows.

This is why an indoor aviary is perfect!  The serenity of bird song can always be heard through one of our hand crafted aviaries.  And, the benefits of this exquisite piece of furniture will be enjoyed for years to come, and is brought to you commercial free!
