Society Finch

If you are looking for a good pair of babysitters to add to your aviary, look no further.  The Society finch has the advantage of raising birds in captivity as this species is not found in the wild.  They are unique in that they are a cross-breed produced in an enclosed area.  The genealogy (breed this bird originated from) of this type of bird is unclear, which may be why they are so willing to foster and raise any type of bird.  They also excel at breeding, often producing clutches containing 5 to 7 eggs.  As the male and female bird look exactly the same, one way to tell the difference is in the behavior of the male.  They will preen around in an attempt to catch the female’s attention–how typical!

Enter high society by adding these versatile birds to your aviary.
